5 things cabin crew wish every passenger knew
27.02.2025Being a flight attendant isn’t just about serving coffee high in the sky. It’s a job full of responsibility, quick thinking, and lots of steps up and down the aisle. Since most interactions with passengers are short and to the point, we asked our crew to share a few things they wish every traveler knew.
Kindness takes you far (literally)
Cabin crew are always here to make your flight safe and comfortable – but a little kindness makes a big difference. Respect goes both ways, and a simple "please," "thank you," or even a friendly smile can brighten a crew member's day and remind us why we chose this profession.
The aisle isn’t a walking track
We get it – planes can feel cramped. But lingering in the aisle can cause safety risks and slow things down. Use the aisle only when truly needed and try to keep strolls to a minimum. It makes things safer for everyone (and helps us avoid playing dodge-the-passenger with the snack cart).
Middle seat wins both armrests
If you’re in the middle seat, congrats – you get both armrests! Think of it as a small reward for being sandwiched between two people. It just makes sense – window seat gets the view, aisle seat gets extra legroom, and middle seat? Armrest royalty. Mystery solved!
Headphones = “Please let me chill”
Wearing headphones is like hanging a “do not disturb” sign. Cabin crew might only tap your shoulder for things like safety announcements or meal service. Pro tip: avoid using completely noise-cancelling headphones, so you can hear important information.
The overhead bin is a team sport
The overhead compartment isn’t a personal storage unit – it’s a shared space for everyone in your row. If needed, crew members might move bags around to make room. And if you are unable to close the overhead bin, your bag might be too heavy and needs to go elsewhere. Pack smart and share the space!
At the end of the day, the goal is the same for everyone: a safe, smooth, and pleasant flight. Cabin crew work hard to make that happen, even when things like delays or turbulence are beyond their control. So, let’s all sprinkle in a little patience, respect, and understanding – it makes the sky a happier place for everyone.
