The Faculty of Business, Management and Economics (FBME) of the University of Latvia (UL) has entered into an agreement with SmartLynx Airlines on the organization of student internships, as well as cooperation in study and research work. Prof. Gundars Bērziņš, Dean of LU FBME, and Māra Šteinberga, Head of HR and Culture of  SmartLynx Airlines , participated in the signing of the agreement.

“It is in our long-term interest to invest in students’ practical skills and to help them to develop in their chosen profession. We are committed to providing a competitive workplace for young professionals here in Latvia. Currently, the company employs a little more than 300 specialists in various fields – both people who have previous experience or education in the field of aviation, and those who do not need it. For example, in the fields of marketing and HR, we teach the necessary knowledge about the specifics of the aviation industry ourselves. Often students who choose us for an internship, after completing their internship, stay with the company,” says Māra Šteinberga, Head of HR and Culture at SmartLynx Airlines.

SmartLynx Airlines is committed to cooperating with LU FBME in order to improve the content of innovative studies, providing expert lectures in study courses, specialized seminars, as well as open lectures for students and teachers. The company will also provide suggestions for the topics of the graduation papers in accordance with the specifics of the industry, as well as participate in the evaluation commissions of bachelor’s and master’s theses.

“LU FBME already cooperates with dozens of employers in both the private and public sectors. Our partners are leaders in their fields and represent a wide range of economic sectors. We are pleased that the aviation company SmartLynx Airlines, has joined in, offering students the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and exciting practice,” emphasizes prof. Gundars Bērziņš, the Dean of LU FBME .
