

Group Flight Operations Director
Group Flight Operations Director position is based in Riga, Latvia and features travel to and from the company’s other offices as well as throughout the distributed SmartLynx route network. As a Group Flight Operations Director, you will be responsible to coordinate the flight operations activities and policies among the NPS across all the SmartLynx Airlines AOC’s; You will be responsible for all matters concerning safety, legality, economy, and efficiency of Flight Operations. The Flight Operations Director reports to the Vice President Operations (VP Ops) on all daily operations and general business matters; You will oversee all flight operations-related functions, including flight crew, cabin crew, flight support, and the operations control center. You will be a key stakeholder and decision-maker within the operations department’s management team; You will liaise with key external constituents, including the representatives of the aviation regulatory agencies, quality assurance organizations, suppliers, and other service providers; You will work closely with all key internal operating functions such as crew training, in-flight service, compliance, crew planning, IT, safety, security, and ground operations.
What will you do
- Maintain oversight on regulatory compliance within applicable parts of Air Crew, Air Operations, and other applicable regulations as well as IOSA standards for flight operations;
- Implement policies that enable safe and efficient flight operations under the provisions of the AOC;
- Ensure that based on commercial needs appropriately qualified and sufficient numbers of flight and cabin crew are selected and recruited;
- Proactively seek and suggest cost reduction and efficiency initiatives;
- Deploy continuous process improvement and ensure that all operations and projects are carried out in a timely, financially sound manner consistent with the airline’s goals;
- Act as an ambassador for the Company within the pilot community, attend relevant industry forums and conferences.
You have
- You are an experienced airline professional who meets the minimum requirements of ORO.AOC.135;
- You hold a university degree, ideally, an M.B.A. or other graduate degree within a relevant field or as a substitute; You have extensive experience paired with relevant professional qualifications within the aviation industry;
- You hold or have held a valid flight crew license and the associated ratings appropriate to the type of operation conducted under the AOC;
- You are confident and decisive, possessing a strategic focus as well as an operational and detail-oriented perspective;
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships as well as influence employees at all levels;
- You are IT literate and well versed with MS office software such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Teams, and PowerPoint as a minimum;
- You have excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- You are able to multitask and execute effectively on a wide variety of tasks and initiatives simultaneously.
